Florida Citrus Punch Recipes Add Zing to Holiday Parties
If you want to give your holiday party some zing, serve one of these refreshing holiday punches. Fresh Florida citrus fruit is the magic ingredient that gives these punch recipes their appealing clean, fresh flavor.
Sparkling Florida Ruby Red Grapefruit Punch
6 cups fresh-squeezed Florida Ruby Red grapefruit juice
2 cups Grand Marnier liqueur
2 bottles spumanti (white sparkling wine)
1 Florida Ruby Red grapefruit, thinly sliced into rounds
Combine grapefruit juice and liqueur in a punch bowl. Chill. Immediately before serving, add the spumanti. Garnish with Florida Ruby Red grapefruit slices.
For non-alcoholic punch: substitute 2 cups fresh-squeezed Florida orange juice plus 2 tablespoons orange extract for the Grand Marnier.
Spiced Florida Orange Punch
8 sprigs fresh thyme
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
6 cups fresh-squeezed Florida orange juice
4 cups gin
5 cups club soda, chilled
Combine sugar, 4 sprigs of thyme (reserve the remaining sprigs for garnish) and water in a saucepan and boil for 3 to 5 minutes until the sugar is dissolved. Remove the thyme sprigs and chill. In a punch bowl, combine the orange juice, gin and syrup. Immediately before serving, add the club soda (and the Juniper Berry soda or ginger ale if making non-alcoholic punch). Garnish with thyme sprigs.
For non-alcoholic punch: substitute 4 cups Juniper Berry soda from drysoda.com (available at Urban Outfitters) or ginger ale.
